Dear Editor,
I went to the debate on May 2 that was supposed to be between Ms. Mornis and Ms. Kays who are running for commissioner for District 1. I was disappointed when Ms. Kays refused to debate. She walked out rather than answer questions from the public. This told me she was more interested in causing strife rather than having an interest in what the residents of Gilpin County are concerned about.
I was not the only one disappointed. She was there so why did she leave? Apparently she was not interested in gaining votes, or letting those who don’t know her learn what she supports.
There was a gentleman who at the beginning was very belligerent. I found Ms. Mornis to be calm in spite of his rudeness. He was, obviously, a supporter of Ms. Kays. I have seen Ms. Mornis at events in the county and in Central City. I have read about what she supports and believe it to be in line with a lot of residents, including myself.
I have no idea what Ms. Kays supports. Oh, right, she walked out of the debate. I don’t care about her issues with Ms. Mornis. They are petty compared to the issues the residents have. Ms. Mornis has the experience of being commissioner.
Sincerely,
Robbie Zmuda, Gilpin County
