Dear Editor,
As a resident, I just wanted to show support for the letters from May Jarril, Scott Papich, and Denise Boehler.
I completely agree, concerning the economic, professional, and community safety, with the choice of utilizing the BCSO as a far wiser direction for us in terms of policing policy.
As for Denise’s comments about Public Safety and community needs concerns regarding wildlife, I hope that the CPW will wake up and not neglect their responsibility to issues “affecting Public Safety.” We all respect the wildlife up here and appreciate the environment we have chosen in which to reside, however, the lack of support, action, and respect for the communities’ concerns was disheartening in the past Fall/Summer attacks by what appears to most likely be one rogue animal, which ultimately had to be resolved by a citizen taking a personal risk of prosecution.
As to what direction, and the reliability of a BOT that seems to be moving farther away from public accountability and participation, I certainly hope they can start to make Nederland more of a welcoming place for events and show greater concern about community limitations in regard to annexation policies.
Thanks to this paper for giving a voice to the people who live here!
