Many people have their own idea of what art means and sometimes are not inclined to new ideas. Some believe an artist must know how to create perfect lines, blend in perfect formation, or use colors and shapes in a complementary fashion.
Yet, many artists are inspired by the experiences and environment that surround them, all of which have no straight lines, perfect formations, rhymes, or reasons.
Greta Balzer’s mother, Carol Jenkins, is a fine artist and was instrumental in Balzer’s artistic journey. Balzer has attended many classes and workshops throughout Colorado with great oil painters.
It’s not only other artists who have inspired her creativity. Balzer can look at ordinary objects and see something many people won’t. “Even a hose coiled on the ground can be beautiful - if seen in the right light. I look for and focus on the interesting, obvious, and sometimes hidden gems throughout my day-to-day adventures.”
For 10 years, Balzer has been using oil paint as a form of expression. She has been “following a somewhat traditional path” to express her vision. Greta Balzer grew up in Ward, where the beauty of the mountains and nature inspire her creations.
“I guess I would be considered an impressionistic painter,” shares Balzer. Her artistic expression can be in galleries, including The Glass Tipi Gallery, Spirits In The Wind Gallery, and The Framed Image.
Art is the sum of colors, shapes, mediums, sizes, emotions, and the stories hidden behind each creation. Regardless of your opinion, expose yourself to all forms of art and let your eyes inspire a new definition.
