WARD — Artist and part-time Mountain-Ear employee David Sockrider describes his art and inspiration with one description: “I Plein Air paint my imagination.”
Sockrider isn’t only a lifelong artist. He is a designer and illustrator. As a full-time Ward resident, Colorado-based artist and live painter, he has painted hundreds of live concerts and events.
In the studio, Sockrider has been creating large, more time-intensive work focusing on nature, incorporating animals and beautiful color palettes. His favorite subjects are Colorado mountain wildlife, the high-country environment, and imaginative fantasy scenes.
With bright colors, spirals, color bands, and dot patterns in his prints, clothing, and stickers, David strives to create scenes that inspire positive feelings in his viewers.
Recent projects include commissioned paintings displayed at the Trading Post Nature Center at Red Rocks Amphitheater. Alongside several other local and regional artists, curious parties can view his work at the One Brown Mouse in Nederland, Colorado.
One Brown Mouse is at 35 E 1st Street, Nederland. You can call David Sockrider at 5, or learn more at tourpaintings.com. You can find him on Instagram at instagram.com/tourpaintings.
