Stuart Lord, CEO of Delta Developmental and former President of Naropa University, celebrated education reformer and a long-standing community leader, announced his candidacy for the Boulder Valley School District (BVSD) School Board. With a strong commitment to educational excellence and equity, Lord seeks to ensure that every student, teacher, educator, and staff member in BVSD is seen, heard, and valued.
Drawing upon his extensive experience in educational leadership, including his roles at Naropa University, Dartmouth College, DePauw University, The BVSD Partnership Council, and The BVSD Leadership Academy, Lord brings a history of transforming educational institutions coupled with a lived understanding of the challenges facing students and educators.
His personal journey, from navigating the foster care system to leading a local university, has instilled in him a passion for building a district where every individual is given the tools, respect, and opportunities to reach their full potential.
“I’m running for the BVSD School Board because I believe that together, we can all leverage the way we teach, learn, lead, and serve, throughout the Boulder Valley School District,” said Lord. “I understand firsthand the struggle students, educators, and staff face, and my mission is to build a district where every individual is empowered to succeed.”
At a gathering of 50 supporters, Lord unveiled his platform, which focused on creating safe and inclusive schools, improving education quality, supporting children with disabilities, recruiting and retaining the best educators, strengthening mental health support, and promoting family and community engagement.
Ema Lyman has been a community member of Boulder for the past 45 years. Her children attended BVSD schools, and she currently works with students facing homelessness and foster situations. “We need someone who truly understands the changing demographics and the needs of the BVSD community,” Lyman said. “Stuart will be a wonderful representative of everybody’s voices in an equitable and fair way.”
Lord’s campaign invites residents to join a community-driven effort to shape the future of BVSD.
