If I were to tell you that things have gotten better for me, I’d be lying. With recent events, I find myself craving an escape unlike any other. Yet, factors are forcing me to remain within the confines of my gilded cage. So, what do I do to save whatever I have left of my sanity? I meditate, intensify my workouts, and I listen to music.

One of my favorite bands to listen to is The Long Run (TLR), Colorado’s Tribute to The Eagles. They’re kind of okay if you like that sort of music. I’m kidding! I think they’re one of the best bands I’ve ever heard. So much so that I’ve become their friend and one of their biggest fans. At least, I like to think so.

Thousands of spectators danced, clapped, and sang along at Louisville’s Community Park on a Thursday evening to hear TLR play. I had the privilege of sitting backstage, but that didn’t deter me from swaying to the rhythm that filled the air. If you think you can’t dance, I promise that TLR will get you moving.

Mr. Mark Trippenssee, Mr. Steve Thomas, Mr. Adam Rey, Mr. Reece Morse, Mr. Rick Pappano, and Mr.Chris Stongle are the six members of the band. From vocal stylings to instruments and technical creativity to sassy humor, each one of them brings something unique to the table. I’d also like to mention Mr. Tim Hebert. He’s the guy running around connecting wires, tuning guitars, and fixing things.

I will tell you that if you’re a fan of good seating, get to the shows early. Buy your tickets ahead of time as well. These guys can pack a house. During the summer, you can enjoy them at several free outdoor concerts, but you have to connect with them to find out when and where. Luckily, the band is easy to find and follow on social media.

Louisville does a great job hosting the city’s summer concerts, loaded with food trucks, a dog park, and that Colorado hospitality that reminds you of home. This was a very special evening. My hair danced in the wind, my shoulders gently shimmied to the sound of “Hotel California,” and I even contemplated the direction this column would take. It was just what I needed.

It was 2009 when I began my professional career as a journalist. Shortly after, I met this distinguished gifted group of gentlemen. Men that have made me smile, blush, and even question certain things about life. Above all else, The Long Run has made me appreciate music as I have never before. For this, I am more than grateful.
