The sky like a windshield
the clouds like the smudges
made by somebody
putting their feet up
against the glass
in the passenger seat
the fall is here
you can feel it in the wind

you can see it from far off
in grey streaked storm clouds
on the low light horizon
as the traffic turns
to just a line of red and white
the rain comes down
making those rows of light
smeared and run together
and thunder
like a moving of chairs above
cracks across the city
