it is built to hold lives

and so a house sits empty
but sometimes we are home
this is when we are in the house
our two lives who this house holds
and when we are home
we turn on the lights
and cook in the kitchen
and sleep in the bed
and the house feels warm
and safe and good and ours
and then we leave again
to make our money
to pay for our rent
and so the house sits empty
while we are gone
and while I miss it
and you
through the day
knowing our house
and you
will be there
come night
come morning
come whatever seconds
we can spend together
I feel my heart or a piece of it
never leaves
it seems almost
as if the house many never be empty
at all
