Barbara Lawlor, Nederland.

As the green turf of local soccer fields reveals itself against the frame of dirty snow piles, the girls’ teams bring out their layers for the afternoon chilly winds. Even though Nederland High School girls were scheduled for two home games in a row, the second game was held at Ned’s home field at Pleasant View in Boulder. The Panthers lost both games but held on to their confidence.

The first game was held up in Nederland against the Fairview Knights on Wednesday, March 14, 2018. The Panthers were overcome 7-0. The second game was against the Grand Valley Cardinals, who took the game, 10-0.

The 14-player roster has been going up and down in the week before spring break, so we’ll see how the numbers play out when the girls return. So far, the list includes: Meg Feeley, Eileen Lanthier, Karen Sorokach, Alex Sorokach, Ash Beattie, Avy Henrikson, Dante Lanthier, Lily Lindstrom, Linnaea Thibedeau, Madeline Prince, Nialla Gormley, Shayna Beckham and Sommyr Bass.
