Five days, away from home, with your friends and teachers out in the wilderness; this is exactly what the sixth graders at NMSHS will be doing.
On April 23, 2018, the 6th grade students and a few teachers will be going to High Trails Outdoor Education Center in Florissant,
Colorado. High Trails is where 6th graders at NMSHS have been going for years. Leaving on the 23rd and coming back on the 27th, this is the perfect opportunity to connect with your peers and nature. Students will enjoy going on hikes, being in discovery groups, and having cabin time during their time at High Trails.
For many, this may be their first time away from home for such a long time. However, with all the different activities provided they will soon forget about their life back home. Rising early for morning hikes, group meals, lessons on nature, team building and evening fun makes for a jam-packed day. Many students return to High Trails as counselors as they get older.
I, for one, cannot wait to experience nature with my friends and teachers!
