Shooting in Gilpin County
On Thursday, September 6, 2012 at approximately 7:00 p.m., the Gilpin County Sheriff’s Office received the report of two trespassers in a dispute with the resident and shots were fired at 62 Deer Circle in Unincorporated Gilpin County.
Deputies were dispatched and upon arrival found a male party with an apparent gun shot would to his chest. The victim, a 30 year old male, was airlifted to a local area hospital where he remains in serious but stable condition.
The resident at the property, 57 year old Daniel P. Thomas, was arrested and taken to the Gilpin County Jail with charges pending. Mr. Thomas’s first court appearance is tentatively scheduled for Monday, September 10, 2012.
This case will be forwarded to the Jefferson/Gilpin County District Attorney’s office.
