Michael David Czeponis, 39, has been charged with two counts of sexual assault by a person in a position of trust, criminal mischief, third-degree assault, and cruelty to animals, according to court records.

The Nederland Police Department has arrested a male suspect for Sexual Assault, Unlawful Sexual Contact, Criminal Mischief, Assault in the Third Degree, and Cruelty to Animals. The suspect was an adult male and resident of Nederland, Colorado.  The Nederland Department is seeking additional witnesses to the incident(s). Additionally, anyone who feels they may have been victimized in a similar way is encouraged to contact police.

In the beginning of August of 2019, the Nederland Police Department began investigating allegations of sexual assault involving multiple female victims and one male suspect. The incident(s) occurred on several dates over several years. The suspect was an adult and victims were juveniles on the date of the incident(s).  Reports of physical assaults, criminal mischief and cruelty to animals were also investigated. Multiple officers conducted interviews with witnesses and victims in this incident. Officers wish to speak to anyone who may have additional information about what occurred, including any videos or photographs or first-hand knowledge of the assaults.

Because the victims were juveniles at the time of the incident(s), their identities and the details of the investigation will not be released.

The Nederland Police requested a warrant be issued for the male suspect for the following crimes:

C.R.S. 18-3-405.3(1)(2)(a), Sexual Assault on a Child (Position of Trust), a class 3 felony

C.R.S. 18-3-405.3(1)(2)(b), Sexual Assault on a Child (Position of Trust), a class 4 felony

C.R.S. 18-4-501(1,4)(e) Criminal Mischief, a class 5 felony

C.R.S. 18-3-404(1)(a) Unlawful Sexual Contact (No Consent), a class 1 misdemeanor

C.R.S. 18-3-204(1)(a) Assault in the Third Degree (2 counts), a class 1 misdemeanor

C.R.S. 18-9-202(1)(a) Cruelty to Animals, a class 1 misdemeanor

The suspect was arrested out of state and extradited back to the Boulder County Jail on November 25, 2019
