The Gilpin County Democrats met for an informal picnic on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at the William C. Russell Park on King Flats Road in Central City. Senator Dylan Roberts attended the event to connect with his constituents in Gilpin County, part of Roberts’ District 8.

Roberts was elected in 2022 to serve Colorado’s 8th Senate District, which includes the rural and mountain communities in Clear Creek, Eagle, Garfield, Gilpin, Grand, Jackson, Moffat, Rio Blanco, and Summit Counties. Prior to his election to the Senate, Roberts served for five years as the representative for House District 26, which encompasses Eagle and Routt Counties.

Roberts is a leader at the legislature, where his priorities include: reducing health insurance costs, lowering the cost of prescription drugs, advocating for affordable housing, protecting clean water, and fighting for working families and small businesses.

During his time in the legislature Roberts has passed bills that focused on lowering the cost of healthcare, investing in affordable housing, protecting our environment and water, finding ways to lower the cost of living, and promoting rural economic development. He also earned recognition as one of the most bipartisan and accountable legislators at the Capitol.

The casual affair brought out many in the community. Gilpin Dems brought potluck dishes to share at the picnic, including potato salad, brownies, pasta salad, and even some homemade marmalade. The group enjoyed the afternoon as they discussed some of the local issues of importance.
