Kris Hess, Nederland. The Nederland Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts have adopted Chipeta Park as part of the Nederland Parks Recreation and Open Space Board (PROSAB) Adopt-A-Park program. The group includes the area Cub Scout/Boy Scout Troop as well as the three local Girl Scout Troops.
On Sunday, May 15, the skies cleared and a group of Scouts went down to Chipeta around 2:00 p.m. to begin their first clean-up. A good number of people showed up to help and everyone worked for a few hours while the skies were good.
All the kids worked hard for an hour and then played hard for an hour.

Nicki from the Town of Nederland showed up to introduce herself (she’s the parks lead from Town) and she was very grateful to have the Scouts come out. The group will be working with her this summer to line up some mini projects.
The plan moving forward is to clean every two weeks starting Wednesday, June 1st.
