Gilpin County High School student Sarah Lovett was awarded the 2023 Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Mountain Rendezvous Chapter, Good Citizen scholarship. Her guidance counselor is Kim Cobb. The DAR scholarship encourages and rewards the qualities of patriotism, leadership, dependability and service. The award is open to any high school senior who exhibits these qualities to an outstanding degree. Part of the application process involves writing a 550 word, timed essay on a surprise American history topic.
Lovett won the local scholarship award competition and is now advancing to the Colorado state competition!
Lovett was elected president of the student council and has been a member of the National Honor Society for three years. She is on the Superintendent’s Honor Roll and was selected to attend a Rotary leadership class. Athletically, Lovett was a starter on Gilpin’s varsity volleyball team and she skis competitively.
