Julia Shaw and Sharon Perea, Gilpin County. Over the past several months, we have been working with Saws and Slaws Coal Creek to create a similar project for Gilpin County. We are excited to announce that our first event will take place at a property off of La Chula Road on Saturday, August 17, 2019, and we are looking for volunteers.

Saws and Slaws is a volunteer forest mitigation group that has been active in Coal Creek for many years. With help from the Coal Creek group, we will create defensible space around structures on the identified property and donate the fire wood to Gilpin families and individuals in need.
The day will end with a community picnic - that’s the “slaws” part of the project! Bring your muscle and a dish to share.
To volunteer, contact Julia at 303-642-0243. For information email Julieinthemts@gmail.com.
