Dear Editor,
The Town of Nederland is about to rubber stamp a project that will put a “pump track” in Chipeta Park. What a bad idea. The park is already small. They say that funding will come from private sources. But the town will be committed to maintaining this annually.
Now, when they say they don’t have money to maintain streets or snow plow them properly. When they have to rely on volunteers to fix what’s broken in the park. When they say they don’t have money to fix the tennis courts or ice skating rink. Who is pulling the wool over our eyes!
I don’t like paying to have my driveway plowed only to have the town plow dump 2 ft. of snow in front of my driveway. Nobody that I have talked to on Wildewood likes that. We used to have a public works director that would follow the plow and use the town pickup to make sure no one got plowed in. Now we get “we don’t have money for that!”
How about repairing the streets, “we don’t have money for that!”
How about money to repair what’s broken in Chipeta? Guess what, they don’t have money for that!
This pump track is also being promoted to bring more tourists into town. How many folk are already tired of the weekend traffic. Do we need more?
Please take the time to let the Board of Trustees know your feelings. Attend the BOT meeting on Tuesday, November 7.
