GOLDEN GATE CANYON - The Golden Gate Canyon Grange hosted a rummage sale on August 1 and 2, 2025. The Grange was full of items donated by local residents, overwhelming two rooms and two patios.
Helping in the kitchen were Donna Kohlbeck and Debbie Hahn from Missouri.
Grange President Terri Costeldia said the sale raises funds for building maintenance. Last year, funds purchased new lighting, and the previous year funds went to finish the new floor.
The Gilpin County High Country Auxiliary planned to come at the conclusion of the sale on Saturday to take what they want from what is left, Terri said.
DeeDee Ramstetter coordinated the event. The Ramstetters have a long history in Golden Gate Canyon. Charles and Mary Ramstetter edited an award-winning book, John Gregory Country, and James Ramstetter wrote Life in the Early Days.
DeeDee Ramstetter said this is her third year coordinating the event. She said the leftover books from the sale will be resold to bookstores. Shoes will go to DSW to be sent to third world countries. Clothes will go to Denver Homeless Mission in Denver.
Baby clothes will go to unwed, homeless mothers. Pet supplies go to the shelter, and books will go to Grange book boxes. The Timberline Auxiliary will come and take what they need for the fire department.
