Barbara Lawlor, Boulder County. On Tuesday morning, November 10, the Timberline Fire Protection District was toned out to a rollover accident with the patient pinned inside the vehicle, at the three-mile marker of Magnolia Road. A witness to the accident said the vehicle had passed him on a double yellow stretch before a switchback, slid on a slick of black ice, hit the gravel and skidded sideways, crossing the road and bashing into the hillside. When the vehicle flipped, the man was trapped in the front seat. He said he was experiencing lower back pain.
TFPD and Boulder Emergency Services workers stabilized the vehicle and then cut through the windshield. The patient was able to walk to the ambulance to be transported to the hospital.
Even with the warm temperatures and sunshine, ice lingers in the shaded areas of mountain roads and drivers should begin their slower winter mountain driving speeds.
