Dear Editor,
I recently learned of the passing of Robert Manes. I met Robert in 2002, shortly after I moved to Gilpin County. We almost immediately recognized fellow music lovers in each other. This shared love of music developed into a true friendship. Over the years we would regularly share newly discovered, or perhaps rediscovered, albums with each other. I will always appreciate the many albums that Robert introduced me to and I believe that the feelings were mutual.
Even after I moved away from Gilpin in 2019, we remained in touch, communicating through regular texts, often sharing holiday wishes. I am truly saddened by his passing. I have lost a good friend and the world has lost a kind and gentle spirit.
John Clower
Former Gilpin County resident
