Dear Editor,

Nederland Community Presbyterian Church (aka Ned Pres) is selling fresh evergreen holiday wreaths to help fund its Rise Against Hunger mission. The wreaths are 22 inches across and feature a red bow. They are the perfect gift for family and friends and a great way to decorate your home for the holidays.

“What a better way to festoon your house for the holiday season than with a wreath that supports Rise Against Hunger?” said Ned Pres Minister Zach Hancock. “With famine sweeping many parts of Africa and war in Ukraine causing a global food supply crisis, organizations providing basic meals are more important than ever. Why not buy a wreath for yourself and give a wreath as a gift that symbolizes 33 meals for those experiencing hunger. That is the true holiday spirit!”

For several years, the church has presented a Rise Against Hunger community service event that has packed approximately 82,000 meals during the past seven years for those experiencing hunger around the world. This year 72 local residents of all ages participated and packaged more than 10,000 nutritious meals.

One wreath purchase will provide 33 meals. Cash donations are also accepted to fund this project. Each packaged meal costs 38 cents, so it only takes a little change to make a big difference. Orders must be placed by October 28. Wreaths will be delivered between November 15 – 22.
