Dear Neighbors,
You are invited! Mountain Forum for Peace (MFP) is holding its annual Hiroshima/Nagasaki Memorial Vigil at the MFP Sculpture Garden next month on August 8, 2020. I’m hoping this masked and social distanced event held for more than 30 years can fly under quarantine conditions.
Ideally this can be a Silent Vigil...silent but for five or ten minutes of attendee sharing.
Why Hiroshima and Nagasaki? Not sure how this originated but as the most dramatic, damnable act in war in our lifetimes, one that we have lived in fear of all our lives, it might be non-partisan though POTUS is authorizing nuclear tests as I write. This vigil can be the “WE’RE SORRY” that many of us feel for the thousands of civilian lives’ lost.
Please bring friends and family and Ned Neighbors and bring bold signs.
