Regarding the article “The reality of mountain deliveries struggles”

Posted

Dear Editor,

I’ve been through the struggles for years with UPS and Amazon. Even recently, as the article described, with Amazon, and UPS that I even subscribed to a delivery program for $19.99/year. But nothing changed.

I think, hopefully, I’ve found a ‘workaround’. First, I shop-around on say Amazon. Then I compare pricing and free shipping on different sites to narrow vendors down. I then call to find out how their third-party shipping works. As the Amazon customer service told me, third-party vendors go with the least expensive shipper; usually USPS or UPS, and “we” don’t have a choice of who they use. Be forewarned though, if it ends up at the post office and you only have your physical address on it, the post office will send it back as undeliverable.

Then, to avoid my packages from being dropped off at the post office, or having to find a kind soul to load them into my car for me (I’m older and have a disability), or finding somebody in my neighborhood to unload them for me I then order directly from the vendor or a company like Chewy or Walmart or Target, etc. that uses FedEx. FedEx always follows my delivery instructions and leaves packages up a short flight of stairs at my front door, or in the open woodshed.
