Letter to the editor and fellow residents,
This is a letter of support to re-elect Gilpin County Commissioner, Sandy Hollingsworth. I had the honor to serve with Commissioner Hollingsworth and the late Commissioner Sill during the years of 2021 and 2022. The three of us tackled the continuing pandemic fallout and challenges as well as running the county during that transitional time. We didn’t always agree with each other, but we were able to come together with solution-oriented decisions and approved the 2023 budget. We also found light-hearted moments where party lines didn’t interfere. Each of us had unique experiences to share as we planned for better days for our little county.
As the pandemic began to recede with vaccinations and ongoing precautions, Gilpin County was able to see the light at the end of the tunnel. The county’s revenues were returning as businesses and casinos re-opened. More meetings were held in person and more counties were coming together to work towards what would be our new normal. Commissioner Hollingsworth embraced every challenge that came her way with a dedication to gaining understanding and researching every topic that was on our lengthy agendas.
Sandy has met with local business owners regarding the county’s economic development plan. Main Street Rollinsville, the hub of District 3, is a favorite place for both residents and tourists to enjoy a great pizza, cold beer or distilled adult beverage while enjoying the breathtaking views west to the Continental Divide. Commissioner Hollingsworth continues to open doors to other economic development opportunities throughout the county.
When other people are asleep, you can rest assured that Sandy Hollingsworth is burning the midnight oil as she prepares for the sunrise only hours away. Gilpin County is truly fortunate to have a county commissioner of her caliber and dedication. This is not the right time for someone to learn the ropes of being a commissioner or compromise the sovereignty of Gilpin County’s voters. You can place your winning bet on Commissioner Sandy Hollingsworth to do the right thing, every time.
Sincerely,
Linda Isenhart
Gilpin County
