Ambiance and memories: A taste of the Chart House’s ambiance upon entering the establishment. PHOTO BY OMAYRA ACEVEDO[/caption]
Someone I know said something to me that made me question myself. It forced me to view myself the way some people may perceive me. Generally, what other people think of me doesn’t bother me. However, I realize that my transparency might come across as mean.
I’ll openly admit that I am not very good at sugarcoating, at all. Should I have an issue with someone, it’s not a big deal for me to sit down and have a discussion. I can talk about any topic openly and comfortably. I hope I’d get the same courtesy in return from anyone.
As I sat with a friend at the Chart House in the Genesee area, I questioned if what and how I was communicating was acceptable, almost to the point of awkwardness. Typically, awkwardness isn’t part of my personality or vocabulary.
The Chart House is best known for its fine dining. But it also offers one of the best happy hours in the mountains. The quality of the food is outstanding. Top that off with a beautiful ambiance and inspiring views, and it turns into an afternoon or evening you’ll never forget.
Hawaiian surfer Joey Cabell and U.S. Navy Buzzy Bent gave birth to the Chart House idea on July 4, 1961. Its first location was a converted diner with a simple concept and only a few tables.
By the 21st century, the Chart House was established in several locations from the Atlantic to the Pacific. OpenTable has listed them as one of the top 100 restaurants with the most scenic views, consecutively for over a decade.
From to-go meals to Sunday brunches and celebrations to catering, the Chart House’s reputation precedes them. The best deals and seating start as they open at 4 p.m. Even during the week, it may be difficult to find a seat by 5:30 p.m.
After a couple of hours of working through my own perceptions, I remembered that I continue to be a work in progress. Luckily, the four people I consider true friends have been more than patient and accepting. I’m grateful for this.
Someone once asked me why I’m so “blunt?” I don’t see it that way. I choose to offer everyone respect by always being honest. Another reason for my transparency is that I never want anyone to question whether I’m being truthful or not.
If you’ve ever misunderstood my intentions or found my way of communicating offensive, I apologize. I would never intentionally offend anyone, regardless of who you are. What I won’t apologize for, ever, is my honesty.
The Chart House is located at 25908 Genesee Trail Road, Golden. You can find them on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/pages/ Chart-House- Gennessee/160906097400254 or you can give them a call at 303-526-9813.
