Dear Editor,
Apparently, you print Thibedeau’s rants without doing any fact-checking. This is a disservice to your readers because a lot of what he says is nonsense.
Let’s start with his contention that but for the awful Ronald Reagan California would be on the way to solving climate change and gazillions of solar panels would be supplying all the power California needs. California uses less than one-tenth of one percent of all energy used. If they shut down their entire electric grid it would have no effect on world climate... none! Solar panels mandated by the state are the leading cause of their problems.
This is not rocket surgery. When the electric power demand is the highest they don’t work! Because.. hello... there is no sun at night! That is why California has to pay very high prices to buy power from places that are using large amounts of cheap, efficient clean-burning, natural gas. Until someone invents a storage battery the size of Los Angeles this problem will continue. Don’t get me started on wind farms!
I can’t believe he mentioned Al Gore. He has been so thoroughly discredited he’s a joke. Not one thing he predicted in his book has happened.. not one!
Despite Biden and Obama’s best efforts to stop it, fracking has brought us energy independence. Because of vast quantities of clean-burning natural gas, emissions are way down.
