As the school year came to a close so did the Nederland High School Girls’ Soccer Team season. The Lady Panthers had an incredible season according to their coach Luis Gonzalez. Coach Gonzalez has been instrumental in building the boys’ and girls’ soccer programs at Nederland Middle Senior High School. He is a positive force and role model who brings out the best in the student-athletes. He does this not with an iron fist but with encouragement and inspiration for the students and love of the sport.

Gonzalez said that this season they had a combination of players from last year and some new players. The result was effective. They had a young team this season with mostly freshmen and sophomores. Gonzalez added, “We also had two great players who graduated this year.” He is looking forward to seeing the team grow and the talent he sees in next year’s freshman class.

The Lady Panthers won three games this season. Coach Gonzalez says, “Knowing that our soccer team won three games is epic! Thanks to the great job these girls’ are doing everyday in every practice and in every game. For that reason it is my pleasure and my honor to work with all of them everyday. I love how much I learned from them this year.”

In addition to the season the team competed in the Foothills League Soccer Festival and came in third place. The festival was hosted by Twin Peaks Classical Academy in Longmont.

Coach Gonzalez is well aware that it takes a team of people to make a soccer program a success. He says, “I want to acknowledge how important it is for us to get the help and support we have from our parents and also from the school’s administration.”

We look forward to next season as the program continues to grow and the community continues to support youth soccer.

Congratulations Lady Panthers on your soccer season!
