“Some Words for the Week”

And now most people agree

the best love songs and stories

the best plays and novels

and symphonies and films

have all been written

and overplayed

and made into commercials

or sequels or spin-offs

or sell out self serious parodies

so since the artist is dead

I guess we can just

focus on living decent lives

stopping work

to notice the leaves

spinning in an updraft of wind

raining down like gold coins

over the workbench
