Some words for the week
this morning at six twenty am
as I drive the canyon curves
in gold warm light
I think of this same drive
at the same time come winter
how I’ll be in the dark
for most of my commute
how as I round that last bend
and see the reservoir
and the faint
shimmered glimmering
of our town
as the sun rises red
over new snow
and the scars of the ski area
on the mountainside
it’s always so strange for me
to think of the cold now
as the heat still grows
it’s like we live in two worlds here
that of wind and white weather
that of wildflowers and dust
and I’m glad to be in both
