Some words for the week
In the now frigid dawn
driving with my coat on
and the heat blasting
and my fingers near numb
on the pleather F150 wheel

in the opposite direction
and I wonder if here he goes
and I wonder what he does
to make his living
I wonder what he thinks of
on this commute
through three valleys
I wonder what he longs for
when he is almost home
I wonder if he sees my truck
white with a silver tool box
passing each morning
and afternoon
and if he thinks of me
and wonders where I’m going
where am I going after all
