and eastbound cars
with skis in racks
and the sun

“Some Words for the Week”
Fallen trees
and hard snow grey with dirt
and half a tank of gas
and a headache
and eastbound cars
with skis in racks
and the sun already
behind the mountains
despite it being
the middle of the afternoon
and folk music on my radio
and my foot on the petal
my hand on the wheel
following the bus
up the mountain
alone again in my car
with the cracked windshield
a world of pine and white air
