Roger Cornell, Nederland. The Planning Commission had a very productive year with six land use hearings with positive recommendations to the Board of Trustees. The applications were for two minor subdivisions, one minor subdivision requiring a rezone and lot line dissolution, two special reviews, and one Planned Unit Development with density increase.
The Commission also reviewed chapter 17 (Sub-Divisions) of the Town Code and will complete the work on a new draft of the code at the January meeting.
The Planning Commission also had a few changes in our membership. Billy Giblin and Karen Blakemore have joined the Commission and Lindsey Danforth has moved to her role on the Board of Trustees.
We were able to make a smooth transition with Karen Blakemore having been our liaison with the Board of Trustees.
Like all of our friends in Nederland, the Commission was affected by Covid and had to hold virtual meetings online. I feel that after some initial difficulties the Commission was able to communicate and work together online to hold hearings and resolve the various issues brought to them.
