Chip Smith, Gilpin County. The Peak to Peak Players summer camp completed the musical production of Alice In Wonderland on Saturday June 15, 2019. Two performances were presented to appreciative audiences at the Gilpin School.

The two dozen students who participated spent over 60 hours in rehearsals. The first morning was an introductory session with building community, theatre and music games, and was then followed by auditions for roles in the musical. A cast was selected, and music, dance and staging rehearsals began in earnest.  The students learned a complete show, and then were ready for the performances.

The ensemble sparkled throughout the production. Costumes, sets, lighting and props were added and the musical introduced  Alice, the White Rabbit, the Mad Hatter, Dodo Bird, Tweedles, March Hare, Doorknob, Wonderland Creatures, the Girls of the Golden Afternoon Club, Sea Creatures, a Caterpillar and of course, The Queen and King of Hearts to these young students.

Thank you to Roy and Barb Stewart for their generosity in hosting a scholarship benefit at the Last Shot that resulted in three student scholarships.

The Peak to Peak Players continue the second of the 2019 summer theatre camps with The Greek Mythology Olympiaganza from July 8 – 12, 2019.

Peak to Peak Players will then perform the family musical, Shrek, from July 26 – 28 and August 2-3, 2019.

The recently acclaimed Peak to Peak Player production of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet will be performed in Central City on August 31.
