Dear Editor,
As we commemorated the events of September 11, 2001, this week, our country came together to grieve and remember the brave people who lost their lives that day along with those who responded to the worst call of their lives.
Approximately 25% of our country is comprised of young people who weren’t alive when 9-11 happened. It’s our duty to teach history as it happened and know that we do indeed have enemies from within our country who seek to change our very foundation. Peaceful grassroots resistance has been used effectively to bring about positive change.
We now have a reckless, lying president who is bent on taking this country to its grave with his war on Iran, tariffs, creating enemies with our long-time allies, building temples to himself, etc. Yes, it’s time we, the people, push back and refuse to accept that our elections are fraudulent, that our people aren’t worthy of health care, food and housing.
Tami Archer wrote that she was unhappy that the Peak to Peak People’s Festival this coming weekend is political in nature, paid for by the Gilpin Democrats. We need to be clear-eyed that this is the time to resist Trump and his toxic administration. The Peak to Peak People’s Festival will be welcoming to attendees, offering food, beverages, music and entertainment. It will be a place for respectful discussion to bring about peaceful change to our government through our elections and our actions as neighbors and friends.
Sincerely,
Linda Isenhart
