The first official meeting of the newly formed Peak to Peak Chamber of Commerce (P2PCC) was called to order at 7:02 p.m. Thursday, June 15, 2023, on Zoom. All volunteer board members were present with a few members of the public in attendance as well.
The first order of business established board officers: Christian Vanek, president; Natalie Duplessy, vice president; Judd Kaufman, treasurer; Tanya Unger, secretary; and three additional board members: Barbara Hardt, Amber Cusano, and Zac Heiliger, to round it out.
The newly elected board quickly got to work on the nuts and bolts of business including the adoption of articles of incorporation, meeting frequency, community engagement, goals, projects, and monthly social gatherings. The P2PCC Board voted to adopt its proposed boundary, providing coverage to a large rural mountain region from Allenspark, along the Peak to Peak Highway, south of Black Hawk and Central City, and to all of the communities and canyons in between.
A primary goal of the P2PCC is to drive tourism to and along the Peak to Peak corridor to boost the economy of the region. Additional goals include providing resource pooled services, such as ordering power, and monthly networking opportunities for business owners to meet, share challenges and develop solutions in support of economic sustainability and vitality in the region. Membership is free until the Board defines and provides specific services to its members.
The next P2PCC Board meeting will be held virtually on Thursday, July 6, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and is open to the public. Board meetings will be held monthly until the Board has significant momentum, and quarterly thereafter.
The July monthly P2PCC social will be held on Wednesday, July 17, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at a location to be determined.
