Peak Perspectives: Wrapping up the fair

Posted

At the end of an incredibly beautiful weekend at the fair, I reflect a bit on what I have learned.

I met dozens of people who are so excited about what we are doing at the newspaper. I sold 11 subscriptions. I handed out the full 100 sponsored papers to vendors and locals attending the fair. I have 2 new places that are going to carry The Mountain-Ear. And 3 new advertisers.

I have 4 new “Keep it Local” stories lined out. I picked up over 40 business cards of local businesses in the region.

I got THE best compliment from one of my high school teachers (thanks Thib). And dozens of compliments on the paper itself.

I expanded on my new business idea and shared information with a few who want to participate in some way. This is an idea way outside the newspaper that will further connect the communities we live in (not ready to share more than that yet).

For our other business, I sold 2 guitars and a banjolele. I gave out quite a few picks and sold some strings. I handed out over 50 business cards for Brightwood

I handed out a couple dozen business cards for our teachers at Brightwood Music.

I had many, many discussions. What I appreciate about pretty much everyone I know is the ability to be frank in my discussions, share my thoughts unashamedly, and to appreciate that we can all respectfully agree to disagree. Those of us who can be respectful, anyway.

I also spent time in local businesses, supporting them like we always do. I had beers with friends. I enjoyed live music.

Speaking of local businesses, in case you’re thinking of eating out… check out this link for info about local establishments (UPDATED JULY 15, 2022). We cover the entire Peak to Peak region with a bit of information on where to be and what to see! If your listing needs to be updated, email us at info@themountainear.com and we’ll take care of that before our next print of this local list (and we update online weekly). Here is the link: https://www.themtnear.com/ articles/peak-to-peak-dining-drinks-and- entertainment/. We continue to be the ONLY print publication that shares this full list, and we keep it online year-round for you.

This weekend, I also spent time with my family and worked on my garden (in my downtime). I played with the dogs.

Seriously, I am so in love with life at this very moment! I am grateful for all of the continued support you all show.
