Peak Perspectives: Planning for 2022

Posted

This week has seen a new door opened for businesses in Gilpin County. The “Keep It Local” campaign is a 52-week effort designed to promote local businesses and organizations and highlight the importance of community support. The campaign will start sometime in the next few months, no later than January.

What does this mean for your Gilpin County business? It means your business can receive a full page ad, a website banner ad, a Business Directory listing and social media blasts. All for free. Courtesy of the ARPA funding that was given to Gilpin County.

Don’t own a business in Gilpin? The ARPA “Keep It Local” request has also been turned in to the Nederland Board of Trustees and the Boulder County Commissioners. Each will consider if they can support this idea. Feel free to reach out to me for additional information.

The next News & Brews will be held on Thursday, November 18, at 5 p.m. at Very Nice Brewing Company in Nederland. I hope you will join me for an invigorating news discussion! I always bring extra papers, media kits, business cards and a plethora of local knowledge to share with my friends and neighbors in the Peak to Peak region. Interested in hosting a News & Brews? Email me at publisher1977@gmail.com and we’ll figure out the next day and time!

Another quick note this week. The Pet of the Year contest nominations are in full swing. You have until November 15 to submit your pet for the contest. We have several sponsors on board already. Those include Brightwood Music, The Mountain Pages, Holistic Homestead, Hub Ned, Gold Hill General Store, the family of Justin Short, Humanity for Dogs, Lise Friis Real Estate, Chip Smith, Gold Hill General Store, Last Stand Tavern and more. If you are interested in being a sponsor or submitting your pet, check out the info on page 22 of this edition!

Like many media outlets, The Mountain-Ear is working hard to help rebuild business outreach in our region. While we offer our business stories for free, it’s not free to us. Our journalists are out in this community every day, tracking down and verifying information about how these businesses have come through the pandemic, and how we all can help these communities rebuild. We will focus on covering news that we have not been able to focus on during Covid restrictions…really dig into local businesses and how they have survived the pandemic. Check out more info here https://givebutter.com/RebuildingP2P. To donate by text (202) 858-1233 include keyword: RebuildingP2P

We are working on a story that could come about this month. How many people are willing to share a story about interactions with “slumlords” in Nederland? Email publisher1977@gmail.com to share your own story (your name will not be shared in the story).

As always my door is open (in Nederland and Black Hawk), my phone is on (303-810-5409) and my email gets checked regularly at publisher1977@gmail.com. Thanks for reading!
