Peak Perspectives: Mail & more

Posted

Hello friends, as many of you know our Black Hawk mail delivery has been a bit spotty in the last month. I live in mid Gilpin and have received mail four times now, in a month. I talked to the post office on Monday, January 31, and our driver is not there once again.

However, Doreen is AWESOME and has been delivering packages on Sunday, on her only day off (not that she takes a day off). She is one person doing the job of many.

I’m considering getting a Black Hawk PO Box anyways, with the increase in mail theft (see story page 22).

SO, if you are a subscriber to The Mountain-Ear and are not getting your newspaper in a timely manner, email me and I will get you setup for a FREE online subscription. If you’re not a subscriber, I’ll get you set up for a FREE trial.

The Mountain-Ear is working hard to get you your news.. but in this case.. the mail is not getting through to all of you, reliably. And, we don’t want you to miss a thing!

The Mountain-Ear is YOUR community newspaper, covering the news you need since 1977.

Other things I have been working on this week include working to train a new graphic designer, putting out job descriptions for new positions (I will be hiring someone to help with newspaper content management, assigning stories, gathering stories, following up with assignments, talking about advertising and more. Talking to people in the community, about everything newspaper), interviewing businesses for the Keep it Local campaign (see pages 8 to 12), and setting up more News & Brews.

I always welcome your thoughtful input on what we are covering, what we should be covering and what you want in YOUR newspaper each week. There is a survey online where you can share that information at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/shapeYOURnewspaper.

As always my door is open (in Nederland and Black Hawk), my phone is on (303-810-5409) and my email gets checked regularly at publisher1977@gmail.com. Thanks for reading!
