Looking back, this has been an exciting week of catching up on projects, billing, websites, communication and more. I spent several days in quarantine, after testing positive for Covid on Friday night. I have had no signs or symptoms at all and would not have tested if a family member had not turned up positive. So, here I am, feeling fine and working on wrapping up the paper in the next hour.
Looking forward, I have been focusing on a new personal project that I am super excited about. It will be launched in the next month. It incorporates a lot of my local knowledge and takes care of needs for the community that I can’t do through the paper. Watch out for this one, it’s gonna be awesome.
I will be spending my weekend at the Gilpin County Fair. We have a booth that we split between our two businesses, Brightwood Music and The Mountain- Ear. We will have many instruments to play. And we will also have free newspapers (a kind soul bought 100 to hand out free at the fair). We will also media kits, subscription forms and be talking about our Keep it Local campaign. As well, we will have a box to put your business card in, to have a chance to run it FREE in an upcoming edition of The Mountain-Ear.
Yesterday my kids worked in the archive, organizing boxes. We have been working on this project for many years and it is slowly coming together. We are working with the Nederland Community Library and the Colorado Historic Newspapers Collection to make sure the history of our region is properly saved. Once it is done, the entire collection will be available online for FREE. You’ll be able to read all the stories of this newspaper. Fundraising is underway to make this a reality. Ask me about the process when you stop by our booth.
As always, I welcome your thoughtful comments, corrections to our stories, ideas, hopes and contributions to The Mountain-Ear. We wouldn’t be here, if you weren’t reading us each week.
