Peak Perspectives: Family

Posted

This week I am preparing to attend my daughter’s wedding in Wyoming. While I have been busy out in the community, I have to focus in and take care of family needs for a bit.

I attended several music events this weekend, including some of my favorite bluegrass at Howlin’ Wind.

I also attended a soccer game in Lakewood and a beer education event at Very Nice Brewing in Nederland.

I talked to a lot of local residents in Gilpin about candidates. It was pointed out to me that we should have prefaced the candidate profiles by saying “the questions asked were submitted by Gilpin residents, for the candidates forum. We explained this to each candidate ahead of time. Several complained they didn’t get to answer ALL the questions, so we shared all of them.” My apologies that it was not made clear in last weeks edition, but the questions were from you, our neighbors and readers, as well as anyone that sent an email ahead of time for the forum.

Anyway, here is my regular spiel about supporting the local newspaper, which hires local people and is run by our local family. We are the only independently owned paper to cover the entire Peak to Peak region, from Allenspark to Central City and Black Hawk. And of course, all the canyons and communities in between.

The Mountain-Ear wants to get YOUR information out to the entire community! To share information about upcoming events, please submit your event to info@themountainear.com.

As well, we have the lowest ad rates in the entire region and offer discounts for nonprofits and schools too!

To have an event covered, send in a request so we can assign a reporter. IF you have a parent, teacher or community member who can cover events, even better! We LOVE community journalism coverage from members of the school, local organizations, and even from Town or County government. It helps us stay connected to every aspect of the Peak to Peak region.

Subscription and advertising prices will go up in January. Find out more by emailing us. Subscribe now to lock in your rate for one more year.

Online subscriptions are currently just $50 per year. That’s less than $1 per week. You can also subscribe for one month at a time.

Print subscriptions range from $70 to $100 per year (in-state local to out-of-state). You can subscribe online here: https://www.themtnear.com/register/ summer-special-1-year-online-for-40/.
