Imagine sitting down with your boss, cracking open the newspaper to check it out for the week, and finding blank pages. That is literally what happened last week. Christian and I sat down to grab a beer (a continued favorite tradition to take a deep breath and celebrate the paper being completed for another week). We opened it up and there it was, blank pages. Not just a page, two pages in the front and two in the back.
I contacted the printer and then immediately put this out on Facebook. “Hey neighbors. Did you receive an extra couple pages in your newspaper this week? Some newspapers went out with extra blank pages, due to a roll splice during our printing process on the press. Stuff happens right? The press tried to get these specific papers out of our circulation, but a few may have slipped through. So, instead of stressing it, we’re gonna turn it into a fun contest. If you received one of these papers, use it as a blank slate to color in what you’d like to see in your newspaper. Take a photo and send it to us at info@themountainear.com.”
First, I want to say, I have not received any of these blank papers back. Which is great, but not much fun. I mean, I am always asking what people want in their newspaper. So this was such a cool blunder on the part of our printer. So where are your creations?
Regardless, last week we had a normal paper with 32 pages and it was jam-packed with a lot of news. This week, we have 40 pages. Yup, a whole lot more news.
This past weekend, I spent almost every moment of every day, attending events. If I wasn’t at events, I was helping my husband at the music store. If I wasn’t there, I was sleeping. It was that kind of weekend. I hope you enjoy some of my highlights in this paper, on Facebook and Instagram. I’m posting more, to reach you and share all the good news.
Speaking of which, as always, we are here as YOUR community source for news, in print and online, every week (for over four decades).
Some of the things I personally look for in the newspaper each week are sales and new services. This week there is a yard sale (see page 25) and some free furniture (see page 38).
