Strange things you learn at the end of life for a critter. This guy HATED riding in the car. I mean he just hated it. Thursday, February 10, we brought him in for bloodwork and he was at the music store for several hours. He YOWLED all the way to town (in his carrier box). He was okay at the music store, settled in and had a nap in the case corner. Then he got to ride home with my son afterwards. Hayden turned on the music. Not a squeak. Zero. He rode all the way home in his carrier and gracefully jumped out at home. Went in the house and curled up.
Never knew music was what he wanted (the biggest DUHHH ever).
In his last few days he listened to music, rode to town and back a couple times (not in the carrier), and was cuddled a lot. He had a lot of pain and thankfully Dr. Clements took good care of him and made his transition smooth.
Losing a pet is the same to me, as losing a family member. These are our babies. Meow-Me, gone, never forgotten.
Beyond the reality of getting older and losing family members, this week I focused a lot on getting new business stories going, met with several people in Gilpin to work on stories that will be in the February 24, 2022, edition. Hired new interns, spoke with other interns, assigned coverage of Nederland’s largest winter event, worked on the website, continued training our new graphic designer, sent out ad packets to new businesses and amazingly caught about two hours of live music.
