Peak Perspectives

Looking at our future

Posted

This week is Volume 45, Issue 01. That means it’s the first edition of our 45th year of publishing. Wow. For real. The paper is only about 5 years younger than I am. And I continue to be awed by what we have accomplished in my 15 years here. And our 44 years here. Oh yeah, Halloween is my 15 year anniversary at the paper.

This week, I have focused on building bridges with businesses in the communities we serve. I have met with over a dozen business owners to share ideas, brainstrom, ask how we can help them during this difficult time, gather stories and share media kits.

This week I also brought my daughters 4Runner in for repair (Thanks Peak to Peak Imports), my sons soon to be vehicle in for a checkup (thanks Kysars) and received some free tires for my sons vehicle from an awesome friend (thanks Mountain Man). Sometimes you will see businesses featured that helped some part of our day to day life, by just being here, in our community. This week is a week like that.

I also had a beer at Very Nice Brewing Company, a beer at Roy’s Last Shot, a beer at Howlin’ Wind, a glass of wine at Kathmandu and a margarita at Tres Gringos. Yup, normally one meeting per day at a different place to talk to the people that support us. In turn, we support the local businesses.

And sometimes I just need to give a shout out to the people that support us at the paper every week. These many businesses are among those that I know I can count on.

The next News & Brews will be held on Thursday, October 28, 2021, at 5 p.m. at Very Nice Brewing Company in Nederland. I hope you will join me for an invigorating news discussion! I always bring extra papers, media kits, business cards and a plethora of local knowledge to share with my friends and neighbors in the Peak to Peak region.
