Caribou Colorado: “Lure and Lore of a Colorado Mountain Town”: "Journey into the clouds to discover Caribou, Colorado, an 1870s silver-mining camp that once thrived at 10,000 feet. This presentation explores both the town's boom and bust years, as well as Tom Hendricks' revival of mining in the 20th century. The cemetery ties the eras together. Fire Mitigation Guided Walk: Forests provide many benefits to our community, but a century of fire suppression has created an unnatural build-up of fuels, threatening both our community and the forests. Walk the Gilpin Fairgrounds trail with forestry experts to view and discuss fire mitigation efforts along the trail. Learn about forest health with local experts and understand more about why trees were cut. Walk will be approximately 1 mile and is kid-friendly. No dogs. Dress for the weather. Meet at 5:30 p.m. at Exhibit Barn, 230 Norton Drive, Black Hawk.

A portion of the evening’s sales will be donated to support the operations of the Nederland Farmers Market. Guided Summer Hike: Explore Gilpin’s hiking trails and learn about local flowers, trees, and other natural features. Hikers will get their steps in, enjoy fresh air, and have time to socialize. INTRO to Artist Trading Cards - Adult Makers Club: This month, join us for a fun and easy introduction to the wonderful world of artist trading cards. During an Intro to Artist Trading Cards, (known as ATCs), we'll talk about what they are and how to make them, their history and why you would want some! ATCs are miniature, 2.5” x 3.5” original works of art created strictly to be traded, swapped, or given away rather than sold. We'll be using collage, paint, fabrics, stamping, paper punches and other fun techniques during this workshop.
