Ann Marie Morgan, Nederland. Nederland Lions Club hosted the annual Peace Poster Contest and Reception on the evening of November 4, 2019. This art contest encourages young people worldwide to express their visions of peace. The theme of the 2019-20 Peace Poster Contest is “Journey of Peace”. Students, ages 11, 12, or 13 as of November 15, are eligible to participate.

Posters are judged on originality, artistic merit and expression of the theme. The winning local poster can advance through several judging levels: local, district, multiple district, and international. Last year’s Nederland winner, Megan Hess, placed first in Colorado!
We’d like to thank all participants, as well as our community judges Danielle Marie Crouse and Jeff Wrobel. A special thanks to Nederland art teacher Theresa Redmon for working with the students and encouraging them to showcase their artistic talents through the Peace Poster Contest.
First, second, and third place winners receive cash prizes from the Lions Club, and Abigail Hess’s first place winning poster now advances to compete at the district level. This year’s top placing posters were: first place, Abigail Hess; second place, Trinity LaBlanc; and third place, Evelyn Gustafson. Congratulations to all!
