Patricia (Pat) H. Everson, of Venice, Florida, an Artist devoted to her work of painting, and to her family and friends, passed away on Wednesday August 23, 2023. At the age of 85, heart failure quickly took her life.

Born to Helen May and Chelsea Austin (Bud) Everson, on February 20, 1938, in Norwalk, Connecticut.

Patricia’s artistic talent was recognized when she was young and was sent to Silvermine School of Art, New Canaan, Connecticut. Pat graduated from Norwalk High School in 1956. She went to Cedar Crest College, in Allentown, Pennsylvania. She also attended Butler University, in Indianapolis, Indiana.

After college and a move to Indianapolis, Pat went on to study art. She went to Elmer Taflinger Portrait and Figure Study and John Herron Art School. She also attended Plein Air workshops on Monhegan Island in Maine, on Block Island, and in Rhode Island.

Pat worked at Aetna Insurance Company as the National Accounts Underwriter in Indianapolis. Other career choices were Real Estate Broker and sales in Indiana and Connecticut, and licensed owner and operator of Chelsea Antiques in Southport, Connecticut.

Patricia was also on the board of the Westport Women’s Club. During the time she spent in Nederland, Colorado, Pat was involved with the DDA. She belonged to Art Associations, Venice Art Center, and Oil Painters of America.

Patricia painted a series of portraits of registered historic homes on Venice Island, Florida. She was determined to paint all of the 100+ historic homes on Venice Island, and managed to paint 60 of them. 42 of her paintings were featured at the Venice Museum. She was their first living artist to exhibit at the Venice Museum. This event, showing these homes painted in a series, was historic. The Venice Museum held the exhibit for 10 months in 2022/2023.

Pat showcased her historic home series and many more of her latest paintings at the Venice Art Center in 2023. She said that she wanted to be a famous artist before she died, and she made herself a famous artist with the historic homes series she painted during the COVID lockdown.

Pat loved living in Venice, a special place that she discovered in the 1970s. She enjoyed the wintering circus, and collecting sharks’ teeth and sea shells. She kept coming back for years, building a home in Pelican Point, Venice; then she moved to Sun City, South Carolina, for a bit. Pat also spent her summers in Colorado. She enjoyed time with family and friends, and was always looking for the next picture to paint.

Patricia is survived by her daughter, Dale Robbin Rose of Venice, Florida; her son, Austin F. Rose; her brother, Peter Everson (Janice) of Wilton Connecticut; her nephew, Matthew Everson of New Hampshire; her niece, Meghan Fries (Brad) of Ridgefield, Connecticut; and her great-niece, Charlotte.
