I am a Colorado native and the mountains have been calling to me all my life. I moved to Central City with my husband, Ed Schoenradt, in 2018. We both had been active in music and theatre and immediately involved ourselves with the arts in Gilpin County.
I started teaching private voice and piano students at Brightwood Music and began writing stories for The Mountain-Ear in 2018. Eventually, I took over covering the Central City Council meetings and continue to also cover events and activities. A benefit of working at The Mountain- Ear allows me to stay connected to the local political and social climate of the area.
I serve as Secretary on the Belvidere Foundation where we oversee the restoration of the Belvidere on Main Street in Central City. Ed and I created the acting troupe Belvidere Players that perform original plays and musicals including Call Me Ned at the annual Frozen Dead Guy Days, Prohibition, the musical at the Teller House gardens; Where is Millie, a social distance melodrama during the pandemic and The Legend of the Tommyknockers at the Teller House.
I am constantly impressed with the quality of The Mountain-Ear newspaper and I feel it covers a wide variety of content to include many interests. I hope the podcast continues to grow and the digital access will expand readership.
