Nederland High School’s Boys’ Basketball team wrapped up their season with two more games in the W column. After some games were canceled due to Covid, and a tough loss to the Gilpin Eagles, the Panthers ended with a season record of 3-8.

The Panthers played their last home game of the season on February 15 against the Clear Creek Golddiggers. The Panthers defeated the Golddiggers by a final score of 64-28. Basketball is always a team sport. The defense and offense are both vitally important to the success of the team. During this contest Panther scoring was led by Max Godsil and Ricky Fortunato with 16 points each. Gavin Dillion put 10 points on the board and Dean Howell added 8 points.

The last home game at all Nederland High School sports events is a time to honor the seniors on the team and their parents, grandparents, or adults in their life who have supported them. During halftime seniors Charlie Rawlins and Logan Delong and their parents were honored by Nederland Middle-High School Vice Principal and Athletic Director Sean DePaula and Coach Stephen Timmins.

Coach Timmins gave Rawlins and Delong a heartfelt thank you for their leadership on the court and for the team throughout the season. He told the graduating seniors how much he is going to miss them. Witnessing these “last” high school events for the seniors and the people who know them is always emotional, even for the person behind the camera.

The last game of the season for the Nederland Panthers took place on February 17 against Twin Peaks Academy in Longmont. The Panthers won that game 46-24.

Playing for Nederland this season were: Seniors- Logan Delong and Charlie Rawlins, Juniors- Kevin Ackerman, Austin Chareunsouk, Max Godsil, Mason Lupe and Boyle Presley, Sophomores - Owen Cleveland, Gavin Dillon, Ricky Fortunato, Michael Garduno, and Kiryu Sugishita, Freshmen - Maddox Gioia and Dean Howell.
