Central City Opera hosts several events, shows, and festivals yearly. Part of its special events is the Dream Events, which include a matinee performance of Gounod’s opera Romeo & Juliet, followed by a meal in the Central City Opera Gardens on July 21, 2023, at 2 p.m. On August 2, at 5:30 p.m., guests can also partake in Dinner on Stage, where they can enjoy catering, after the show, from Serendipity while surrounded by the set of Romeo & Juliet.
“O Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo?” He’ll be on stage at the Central City Opera between June 24 and August 5. The romantic and tragic love story of two star-crossed lovers comes to life in visual and melodic harmony that’s not to be missed.
Winner of 14 Tony Awards, Six Drama Desk Awards, and 2019’s winner of the Drama League Award for Outstanding Revival of a Musical, Kiss Me, Kate takes the Central City Opera by storm with its brilliant charm, dreamy romanticism, and hilarious delivery. Catch it on stage between July 1 and August 5.
With a limited six performances, audiences can find themselves lost in a story of jealousy, manipulation, and vengeance as they get caught up in the complex life of Othello and Desdemona as envisioned by Rossini. Watch Othello live on stage from July 15 through August 6.
The members of the 2023 Bonfils-Stanton Foundation Artists Training Program will be performing a special matinee on Friday, July 28. The Nina Odescalchi Kelly Young Artists Matinee is a fully staged production. Tickets are $25.
Audiences can help kick off Central City Opera’s 2023 Festival productions with cocktails, dinner, and a behind-the-scenes conversation with the season’s mainstage directors before the first Romeo & Juliet and Kiss Me Kate performances. Opening Night Celebrations begin at 5 p.m. and include cocktails, dinner, and remarks from the director. These are separate events, and tickets to live performances are sold separately.
Discover tomorrow’s talents in Short Works, where artists of the Central City Opera’s Bonfils-Stanton Foundation Artists Training Program showcase their talent in 30-minute performances across the opera house at the Williams Stable Theater. Short Words are performed between July 2 and August 5.
Members of the Bonfils-Stanton Foundation Artists Training Program also present Lunch and A Song at the Teller House. Get your opera fix with a 30-minute performance before delicious lunch at the Teller House between July 2 and August 5.
The Central City Opera provides free 45-minute pre-performance talks before every show. It’s a great way to learn about the shows, actors, and the opera house. The pre-performance talks are limited and are first come, first served basis.
Join the cast and creative team for a post-performance discussion of Kiss Me, Kate on Saturday, July 22. Othello’s post-performance discussion will be Sunday, July 23, and Romeo & Juliet’s post-performance discussion will be Sunday, July 30. These discussions are free events and open to the public on a first come, first served basis.
If you miss any of the shows, be sure to partake in one of three impromptu performances by the Central City Opera stars on Friday, July 7, Saturday, July 29, or August 4. These events have a cash bar and are held after select evening performances.
