Purchased a long time ago for 35 cents from Hatch’s Gifts; or maybe I bought the 3 for a dollar bookmarks with sayings on them. I don’t remember, but this book mark, embossed on a silk ribbon with a green fenced silk tree on the top and a brown silk cabin with brown smoke, and green trees on the bottom, all mounted on plastic with a pretty bright green tasseled silk rope ribbon, hanging from a hole punched in the top.
I am presently using this bookmark while reading Ruta Sepetys #1 NYT best seller winner of the Carnegie Medal. A book called Salt to the Sea – suggesting on the cover, “Those who are gone are not necessarily lost”.
My interest on this day, however, is on this bookmark that says,
“I expect to
pass through
this world but
once.
Any good, therefore, that I
can do or any kindness
that I can show to my fellow
creatures, let me
not, defer nor
neglect it for
I shall not pass this way again.”
